Le Paysage, c’est pour lui, la lumière, l’espace, les éléments. « Une peinture devrait être à la fois abstraite et figurative » dit-il. Il réalise des études peintes sur le motif puis reprend les thèmes dans son atelier. 130 œuvres à découvrir (80 peintures et 50 dessins) réalisées entre 1951 et 1955. MuMa. Le Havre. On the centenary of the artist’s birth in Saint Petersburg (1914-1955), the MuMa in Le Havre is organising an exhibition dedicated to landscape in the work of this great 20th Century artist. Landscape, for him, meant light, space and the elements. “A painting should be both abstract and figurative,” he said, making studies on site then reworking the themes in his studio. 130 works (80 paintings and 50 sketches) dating from between 1951 and 1955.
